Don't expect cooperation and sanctions at the same time
Hua Chunying pointed out that the EU cannot rely on cooperation on the one hand and sanctions on the other to harm China’s interests, which is unreasonable and impossible.
On March 23, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying held a regular press conference.

A journalist asked whether the Xinjiang-related sanctions issued by the EU and China’s countermeasures will affect the progress of the China-EU comprehensive investment and trade agreement.

Hua Chunying said that China is committed to developing China-EU relations. We stand for cooperation and oppose confrontation. At the same time, our determination and will to safeguard our legitimate interests are firm. The EU cannot rely on cooperation on the one hand and sanctions on the other to undermine China’s interests. This is neither reasonable nor feasible. The EU should reflect on itself, stop confrontation and take concrete actions to maintain the sound and stable development of China-EU relations.
