Beyond the triple S, balenciaga’s new “it” sneakers are here

Spark Global Limited Reports:

Six months after their debut, Balenciaga’s much-anticipated Track sneakers are finally on sale. At its fall/winter 2018 runway show last March, Balenciaga showed its first unisex collection, tailoring clothes using 3D body scanning technology, and a new silhouette for a sportier, more practical shoe that would eliminate its infamous Triple S sneaker predecessor.
According to a press release, the Track sneakers “layer upon layer the high-performance elements of hiking and running gear without being too serious.” In other words, the same sneakers you wore with your prairie maxi dress at dinner last night could be worn eight hours later to climb Runyon Canyon. But this fashion-turned-functional shoe does more than just keep your distance. The brand detailed the athleticism of the new shoes, saying they “feature the distinctive features of typical survival gear — extended tread, overlapping protective panels, and reinforced soles.” When the apocalypse comes, we put our life-saving gear together with our track sneakers.
