In order to promote the sustainable and healthy development of urban rail transit industry and enhance the technical level and core competitiveness of China’s urban rail transit equipment, CRRC, together with China Urban Rail Transit Association, metro companies, scientific research institutions and cooperative units, has jointly implemented a series of China standard metro train development and test projects since July 2019, aiming at breaking through the key core technologies, To build a “standardized” metro train platform that meets the needs of China and advanced technology, improve the standardization and modularization level of China’s subway equipment, and establish a Chinese standard system for urban rail equipment. After two years of technical research, the first Chinese standard metro train was successfully put off the production line, marking that the project has achieved significant phased results.
According to the introduction, China standard metro train is a brand-new product platform with technology leading, which is led by China standard, adopts the design concept of standardization, modularization and serialization, inherits the existing metro train operation experience and combines with the domestic metro user needs. China’s standard metro trains have completely independent intellectual property rights, and the coverage rate of “China standard” has reached more than 85%. Compared with the conventional subway, the “nine modernizations and two improvements” have been realized.
Key components are autonomous. Carry out the comprehensive and independent research and development of core technology and key components. Through technical key research and development, all key parts of China standard metro train can be independently researched and manufactured.
Parts are universal. The vehicle parts are unified, and the simplified design of 200 kinds of vulnerable and consumable parts and spare parts is completed, which makes the parts and parts to the maximum extent universal. Vehicles and parts of different lines, different models and manufacturers can be interchanged and common, reducing the quantity of spare parts and reducing the operation and maintenance cost.
Modular components. According to the principle of “unified function, performance and unified electrical and mechanical interface”, more than 250 parts modules are built for standard Metro to realize modular design. Modularization makes subway construction like “building blocks”, which can greatly shorten the development cycle, meet the needs of users and reduce the design, manufacturing and maintenance costs of metro vehicles.

Function configuration. The vehicle function realizes the menu configuration, and can be “customized”. On the basis of basic functions, the standard Metro has launched more than 170 optional functions, covering passenger interface, vehicle operation and maintenance, intelligent service, etc. users can customize according to the needs.
Vehicle standardization. The vehicle standard is realized by unifying the basic vehicle size parameters, speed index, body outline, interface, electrical control principle, communication protocol, repair process and so on. Based on standardization, the standard Metro has formed a perfect life cycle technology and management standard system, which is conducive to reduce the cost of subway construction and operation and maintenance, and also provides conditions for the realization of “interconnection and interworking” cross-line operation of urban rail transit.
Product serialization. Under the technical platform of China standard metro train, a series product platform of four models is built, including 80 km a-car and B-type vehicle, 120 km / h A-type vehicle and B-type vehicle. At the same time, each vehicle can be freely configured with driving mode, power receiving mode, vehicle formation, vehicle body profile, etc., to meet the user’s personalized needs to the greatest extent.
Scale of industry. Through collaborative innovation, the standard Metro has realized the complete autonomy of core technology and key components, established a complete industrial chain and supply system, formed a large-scale industrial cluster integrating more than 300 supply enterprises from parts, components to system, and effectively guarantee the safety and sustainable development of urban rail industry chain.
Standardization of the industry. The technical specifications of each component and system of the vehicle are unified by the Chinese standard metro train, and the technical standard system of urban rail vehicles has been formed. 4 sets of technical specifications for the whole vehicle, 205 enterprise standards, 22 group standards and 10 national standards have been prepared, which provides effective standard support for guiding and standardizing the construction of urban rail transit industry.

According to reports, the metro train will be used for “Zhengzhou airport Xuchang line”. It is a 120 km / h B-type car with goa4 automatic driving. It is developed by CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd. It is the first vehicle product born under the China standard metro train technology platform, and also the first standard Metro Project for demonstration application. At present, the development of 120 km / h A-type train, 80 km / h A-type train and B-type train under China’s standard metro train platform is also progressing smoothly.
